Miss Barks A Lot is the culmination of my life-long dream to care for my favorite creatures that walk this earth. Dogs, for me, symbolize unconditional love, unfettered joy and the gift of living in the moment. I am deeply grateful for this career that melds my passion and skills.
I am a professional pet sitter and member of Pet Sitters International. I share this organization’s values to promote, support and recognize excellence in pet care. I am part of a growing corps of entrepreneurs who love working with and caring for canine companions. For me, it’s not work; it’s a way of life!
In 2005, I founded Miss Barks A Lot to be different from kennels, which are often confining and impersonal. In my home, you will find pet hair on the sofa, paw prints on the carpet and chests full of toys that engage dogs for hours. I am a Poulsbo native. Homesteading in Big Valley is part of my family’s heritage. I lived in Hawaii for much of my adult life, employed in the food industry. I have been a lover of finned, four-legged, feathered and furry friends since I was a child. I love them all! ![]() |
I care about my dogs, I care about my family and I care about my community. My aging Mom drew me back to this area that is truly home for me. My own faithful companion, Ka’I, and I visit nursing homes to bring smiles to the residents in ways that only a dog can.
![]() I rescued Ka'I from a local Humane Society. Her full name is Ouo Kainapu Alepoi Kekailoa. In Hawaiian, it means “young animal with a graceful prancing motion as the breaking waves of the distant ocean.” Her nickname is Ka'I, and mine is Miss Barks A Lot!
Currently, I also am active with Soroptimist International of Greater North Kitsap, working with other business women to improve lives. Please give me a call and drop by. I would love to shake hands with you and your pet or pets.
